Frank D. Villamaria, 86, died Friday, February 10, 2017 at Medicalodge South in Pittsburg. He was born on December 14, 1930 in Carona, KS to Frank J. Villamaria and Caroline (Beltram) Villamaria.
Frank graduated from West Mineral High School in 1948 and later attended Wentworth Military Academy. Frank served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Essex during the Korean War attaining the rank of Petty Officer First Class. He was honorably discharged in 1956.
On May 1, 1952, Frank was united in marriage to the love of his life, Margaret J. Zortz at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac. They were married for the next 62 years until Margaret’s death in 2014.
In 1957 he graduated from Kansas State Teachers College (Pittsburg State University). Shortly after graduation he began a 33- year career with the Prudential Insurance Company, retiring in January 1991. He was active in the Kansas Life Underwriters Association and served as State President of the KLUA in 1978 and 1979. He was inducted into the Kansas Life Underwriters Hall of Fame in 1987. In retirement, Frank enjoyed promoting recycling and reuse of household items through his flea market businesses in the Pittsburg area.
He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg, and a member of the Pittsburg Knights of Columbus. He was a member of Pittsburg American Legion Post #64, Frontenac American Legion Post #43, and Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #1158. Frank served on the Saint Bridget’s Cemetery Board of Directors in Scammon, KS. While living in Frontenac, KS, he served on the USD 247 Frontenac Board of Education for eight years.
Survivors include Dr. Frank J. Villamaria (Maureen) of Temple, TX, Janet Prestoy (widow of David) of Lawrence, KS, Lynn A. Fountain (Brad) of Overland Park, KS, James K. Villamaria (Ann) Pittsburg, KS, and Paul D. Villamaria (Angie) of Littleton, CO. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and one great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Margaret, and brother, Valentino Villamaria.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 am Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac, KS with Father Tom Stroot, presiding. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:30 am Saturday at the church. A memorial luncheon at the Sacred Heart Parish Hall will immediately follow mass. Private burial will be at St. Bridget’s Cemetery in Scammon, KS.
