James R. “Jim” Wisek, age 68, of Lamar, Mo., passed away on Wednesday February 27, 2013, at Freeman Hospital, following an illness.
Jim was born on June 25, 1944 in South Port Queensland, Australia, the son of the late Orville and Audrey (Wyatt) Wisek. He married Sarah Acklin on April 3, 1965 in Chicago, Il. He has been an area resident for the past forty years. Jim was a well known area business man. He owned and operated Pioneer Floor Maintenance, Midwest Roofing & Sheet Metal, and most recently the Dream Sleep Shop in Joplin. He was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses both the East Joplin and the Lamar, Mo. congregations. He loved his work as a minister for Jehovah’s Witnesses, he championed and inspired many people to read their bibles and love Jehovah God. He was a loving husband and a wonderful father and grandfather, who will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife and business partner, Sarah Wisek, Lamar, Mo., two daughters, Janet Ellingwood and husband David, Lamar, Mo., and Rebekah “Becky” Wisek, Joplin; one son, Micah Wisek and wife Melinda, Lincoln, Ne.; two brothers, Glen Wisek, Chicago, Il., and Lloyd Wisek, Mt. Vernon, Il.; two sisters, Linda Wisek and Joy Wisek, Chicago, Il.; and three grandchildren, Sarah Louise Ellingwood, Cheyene Wisek, and David Ross Ellingwood.
