Joplin, Mo. Virginia Matlock “Jinny” Hulen, age 89, of Joplin, Mo. passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013. Jinny was born Sept. 8, 1923 in Webb City, Mo., the daughter of Charles and Eleanor Berrian Matlock. She returned to Webb City in the late 50’s and moved to Joplin in the late 70’s. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Webb City.

Jinny married Walt Hulen October 1, 1949 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on Oct. 25, 2010. She was also preceded in death by a son, Chuck Hulen, and a sister, Betty Cozad. Survivors include one son, Hank Hulen and wife Dana, Joplin, six grandchildren; April, Debbie, Amie, Shad, Danielle, and Jeremiah, and nine great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Hedge-Lewis Chapel with Hank Hulen, officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorial contributions are requested to Watered Gardens Ministry in Joplin in care of Hedge-Lewis Funeral Home.
